Vintage Metropolitan Museum of Art Ceramic Book Flask Bottle with Cork - The Gift is Small Good Will is All
Lovely vintage book-shaped flask from the Metropolitan Museum of Art museum store. This is the famous "blook" reproduction - ceramic vessel made to look like a little book on your shelf.
White ceramic with classic Delft blue floral chintz pattern on both covers, yellow raised bands on the spine to mimic book bindings, blue zig-zag border. The fore-edge (bottom) is hand-lettered in dark blue:
"THE GIFT IS SMALL GOOD WILL IS ALL"
Flat rectangular book form with cork stopper in the top. Use as a small bud vase, olive oil bottle, bar cart decanter, or just as bookshelf decor - it blends right in with real books.
Condition: Very good vintage. No chips or cracks to the ceramic that I can see. Light overall crazing to glaze consistent with age. Original cork is included - has some natural pitting as corks do. Bottom retains the original silver foil MMA sticker. Displays beautifully - see all 5 photos.
Measurements: Approx. 5 1/4" tall x 3 1/2" wide x 1 3/4" thick. Holds about 8 oz. Please use photos as part of description. οΏΌ
