Vintage 1970 Anthony Freeman McFarlin Gold Leaf Squirrel Figurine - Mid Century Modern California Pottery
Adorable and hard-to-find gold squirrel from the famous Freeman-McFarlin animal line. Each piece was hand-decorated with gold leaf and an antiqued brown wash to give it that Hollywood Regency glow.
Details:
• Chubby walking squirrel with tall, curled tail
• Original gold leaf finish with dark antiquing in the creases
• Huge amber glass eyes with black pupils - classic Freeman McFarlin look
• Tiny hand-painted red nose
• Signed on the side near tail: Anthony 1970 in cursive - the artist's signature
This is the same mold as the famous pair of gold leaf squirrels and matches the Mr. Fox, owls, bunnies, and llamas from this line.
Condition: Very good vintage condition. Gold has nice patina and wear consistent with age - some darker areas and light surface scratching to the leaf as shown. No chips, cracks, or repairs. Glass eyes are intact and bright. Please review all photos - they are part of the description.
