Hi Everyone! I am from Ohio and love thrifting and perusing our local antique stores! I enjoy pieces that remind me of my grandparents and love the hunt of finding unique treasures to bring into my home.
American Brilliant Period (ABP) cut glass, produced roughly from 1876 to 1917, represents a zenith in American glassmaking, characterized by its deep, intricate, and often elaborate cutting. Manufacturers competed to create the most dazzling and complex patterns, using high-quality lead glass that produced exceptional brilliance and resonance. These pieces were highly sought after for their decorative appeal and were displayed prominently in homes as symbols of wealth and sophistication. Imperial Glass Company, founded in 1901 in Bellaire, Ohio, became a significant producer of pressed and blown glass, including cut glass patterns. Their "Nucut" line, introduced in 1904, was a more affordable alternative to hand-cut glass, often featuring pressed patterns that mimicked the look of ABP cut glass. This particular nappy dish, with its combination of hobstar and fan motifs, is representative of the popular styles of the era, designed for serving small delicacies like candies or nuts.
