Currier & Ives was a prolific American printmaking firm that operated from 1834 to 1907. They are best known for their lithographic prints, which depicted a wide range of American life, including rural scenes, cityscapes, historical events, and sentimental subjects. Their prints were widely distributed and played a significant role in shaping the visual culture of 19th-century America, often romanticizing rural and small-town life.
