Beautiful ornate cast-metal pedestal base with elaborate acanthus/scroll feet, beaded trim and an aged gold/brass-tone finish. The openings through the top and bottom strongly suggest this was originally made as a lamp or possibly clock/ornamental fixture base, with the center holes allowing for wiring or mounting hardware.
The heavy classical detailing gives it a wonderful Victorian / French Provincial / Hollywood Regency look and makes it a great architectural salvage piece for restoration or repurposing.
