Restaurant ware soup bowl made by the Syracuse China Co (originally Onondaga Pottery Co) in the Webster pattern. It features an elaborate rust, gold and black border design with acanthus scrolls, flowers, leaves, and beads on an "Old Ivory" body. The Webster pattern was patented in May 1938 by D. Bourne and was available as both fine china and commercial china. The Webster fine china was produced from 1941 - 1966 (excluding the WWII years). The date code on this particular piece (CC8 ) indicates that it was manufactured in August 1948. It was a very popular restaurant pattern, and is often associated with the Fred Harvey chain and is documented as having been used at the El Tovar Hotel in the Grand Canyon. It's in excellent condition with no chips, dings, scratches, stains or dishwasher damage. The glaze is extremely smooth, shiny and slippery all-over with slight "signs of life". **PLEASE EXAMINE ALL PHOTOS. I TRY TO INCLUDE ALL PERTINENT DETAILS. All items are "preloved" vintage and they may have some wear and imperfections** Diameter: 8.75 in
